
National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – Quezon IMO conducts Simultaneous Tree Planting at Dumacaa River Irrigation System in Celebration of its Founding Anniversary
In celebration of the founding anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the Quezon Irrigation Management Office (IMO) successfully conducted a Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity on July 4, 2025, at Dumacaa River Irrigation System (RIS) located in Barangays Lakawan, Ibabang Alsam, and Ayaas, Tayabas City, Quezon with theme: “Luntiang Kagubatan, Matatag na Irigasyon.”
This environmental initiative was held in support of Executive Order No. 23, s. 2011 and Executive Order No. 26, s. 2017, both promoting reforestation and sustainable land management practices. The activity underscores NIA’s commitment to integrating sustainable irrigation development with environmental restoration and watershed conservation.
With the active participation of NIA personnel and key partner stakeholders, a total of 800 cacao seedlings were planted. This includes contributions from the Local Barangay Units of Brgy. Lakawan, and Brgy. Ayaas; the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the City of Tayabas; and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – CENRO Tayabas.
This nationwide simultaneous effort reaffirms NIA’s unwavering dedication to promoting climate-resilient agriculture, strengthening ecosystems, and fostering eco-friendly practices that benefit both farmers and the environment.
