3 IAs receive recognition from NIA IV-A

PILA, LAGUNA | June 28, 2022, NIA Region IV-A conducted the quarterly Regional Federation of Irrigators’ Association (RFIA) meeting to give updates and feedback from the recently concluded NCIA Meeting. RFIA will adapt the “Sampung Piso mula sa Puso” Program from the NCIA Joint Strategic Planning and Program Development Workshop last June 1-3, 2022 at NIA Central Office.

Some of the highlights from the RFIA Meeting was the awarding of Plaque of Recognition to CY 2021 Nominees for Outstanding IAs by CARP-IC. NIA Region IV-A has three (3) nominees namely, STAMASI IA, Palangue Agrarian Reform Cooperative, and Prenza-Ladron-Balanoy-Sampalocan-Calumpit (PRELABASACA) IA.

STAMASI IA of Sta. Maria River Irrigation System in Laguna has been awarded various citations from different agencies and outstanding IA in regional category of NIA Region IV-A. Palangue Agrarian Reform Cooperative was also awarded CY2020 Outstanding IA in CARP-IC in the regional category. They are known for their high value crop products and delicacies like ube-halaya and shrimp paste. Palangue ARC is also one of the highest contributors in NIA Region IV-A EPAHP sales. To date, their total sales from their EPAHP marketing agreement with BJMP-Naic, BJMP-Bacoor and National Nutrition Council is 1,607,660.25php.

Being one of the outstanding IAs in the regional category, PRELABASACA IA of Prenza CIS in Batangas is gearing towards agro-entrepreneurship such as machinery services, palay trading and fertilizer services.

CARP-IC also awarded a plaque of appreciation to NIA Region IV-A Regional Manager, Engr. Wilson M. Lopez for his unwavering support and continuous effort in grooming successful IAs. | LB Javan, RO

NIA, IA, AND LGU LAUNCH THE 1ST FAMILY MODEL FARM IN SANTA MARIA LAGUNA

June 3, 2022 – NIA IV-A Regional Manager Engr. Wilson M. Lopez led the turnover ceremony and ribbon cutting of SANTAMASI IA Model Farm in Santa Maria, Laguna.

The SANTAMASI IA Model Farm is the pilot greenhouse project in the Province of Laguna aiming to provide additional crop production (high value crops) aside from their original rice farming practices.

Said model farm features 200sqm. Greenhouse facility, 400 sqm. Open field demo farm, drip irrigation system and HDPE pipes. The said facility aims to house various high value crops that will impact the lives of 658 farmer-beneficiaries belonging to SANTAMASI Irrigators’ Association.

Santa Maria Municipal Councilor Hon. Mario Palicpic, Jr., expressed his gratefulness to NIA Management in supporting the local farmers of his town of Santa Maria, Laguna.

Details and features of the completed project were presented and reported by Engr. Fidel P. Martinez, Division Manager of Laguna Rizal IMO.

The project pegged at PHP 785,509 started its construction on March 22, 2021 and was completed on May 15, 2021.

“Lubos na papasalamat sa aking pamilya sa pagpayag na magamit ang aming lupa para paglagyan ng Model Farm Project na ito. Tinitiyak po namin na ito'y aming pagyayamanin at pahahalagahan", said SANTAMASI IA Model Farm Committee Leader Mr. Celso G. Dalisay.

Engr. Wilson M. Lopez, in his speech, reiterated the commitment of the Agency to provide efficient and effective irrigation system to support the agriculture sector and the effort of the Agency towards modernization and innovation of irrigation facilities.

“Itong project na ito ay electric driven kung kaya't laking tipid sa gasolina at matipid sa tubig dahil drip irrigation system ang gamit dito. Saka kita natin na hindi lamang mga Rice farmers ang aming sinusuportahan, bukas ang tanggapan namin sa sinumang magsasaka na nangangailangan ng maayos na patubig hindi lamng sa para sa palay maging sa ibang mga high value crops din", he added.

NIA Region V visits CALABARZON

PILA, Laguna l NIA Region IV-A warmly welcomed NIA Region 5 technical personnel as they conduct their Project Visitation on various irrigation projects in CALABARZON specifically in Laguna and Quezon provinces.

Administrative and Finance Division Manager Ms. Reynaria N. Tapia and Laguna Rizal IMO Division Manager Engr. Fidel P. Martinez cordially greeted and welcomed all the guests and participants and ensured that they will enjoy their stay at Region IV-A.

NIA IV-A Regional Manager Engr. Wilson M. Lopez on his message observed that majority of the delegations from Region V are young professionals.

“Yung ibang kasamahan natin na may mga edad na ay mas okay tawagin na seasoned and well-experienced professionals”, he added.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Quipot Irrigation Project and Macalelon Small River Irrigation Project (SRIP) both from Quezon Province are the two major irrigation projects of NIA Region IV-A at present.

The three (3) day activity includes visit in the newly installed automated sluice gate of Sta. Cruz RIS in Laguna and the Quipot Irrigation Project in Quezon. Said activity aims to provide opportunity among participants to have first-hand experience on the concepts of planning and design, project implementation, construction, and strengthen their common platform irrespective of their region. l G. Regional Office undergoes Internal Quality Audit

Conduct of NIA IV-A ISO internal audit by its auditor NIA Laguna-Rizal IMO

The 2-day activity, which is set to end on May 27, is part of the continuing effort of the Agency to improve its Quality Management System (QMS).

The 1st day of audit will cater core processes of the Agency which comprise of Development, Construction, Operations and Maintenance of irrigation systems while the 2nd day will tackle the processes and implementation of various ISO Core teams.

NIA IV-A conducts ISO Internal Quality Audit

PILA, Laguna l NIA Laguna Rizal IMO had its ISO Internal Audit led by NIA Quezon IMO internal quality auditors and NIA Cavite-Batangas IMO acted as observers.

The said ISO Internal Quality Audit lasted for two (2) days which started from the Agency’s core processes which include Administrative and Finance, Operations, Institutional and Equipment, and Planning and Construction followed by the various ISO Core Teams during the second day.

The purpose of said audit is align with the continual improvement and development of the Quality Management System (QMS) of the Agency which translates to productivity and result-driven organization. l G. Silvania, LRIMO
