NIA CALABARZON launches agenda toward agricultural transformation.
Pila, Laguna, January 8 - The National Irrigation Administration Region IV-A, led by Regional Manager Engr. Roberto Dela Cruz, signals the beginning of 2024 through an annual ushering event with this year’s theme ‘Gear-Up’. Said gathering brought together the entire workforce of the Agency to witness the symbolic ceremonial lighting of the NIA Gear-Up Wall.
The wall signifies the united efforts of the agency in employing modernization and innovation to enhance irrigation services, which are set to positively impact the agricultural sector and the livelihood of Filipino farmers.
During his address, RM Dela Cruz underscored the importance of concerted efforts to realize the agency's goals, using gears as a metaphor for a powerful, synchronize movement where the motion of one gear influences others.
“Hindi puwedeng nag i-isa lang tayo at hindi rin puwede na lumihis tayo sa ating objectives. Katulad ng mga gears na ito na sumisimbolo sa atin, walang malaki o walang maliit sa Ahensiya. Bawat isa ay may mahalagang kontribusyon upang mapatakbo natin ng maayos ang Ahensiya. Indeed, these gears encourage us to level-up our commitment to deliver effective change needed by the agriculture sector” he emphasized.
This year's event highlights the crucial roles of all employees as an interconnected mechanism, serving as an effective tool to achieve food security in the country. The agenda for the year includes a focus on modernizing irrigation systems and facilities, promoting sustainable agriculture, strengthening Irrigators Associations (IAs), and investing in research and development initiatives.
Also, part of the event is the blessing of six (6) units of Zoomlion Crawl-Type Excavators in line with the Agency's ongoing modernization and innovation effort. Right after the ceremony, all the heavy equipment were immediately dispersed to respective locations in the region to start assisting NIA field offices on their operations and maintenance activities as well as project implementation.
The initiative is in line with NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Guillen's re-fleeting program, set to play a crucial role in maintaining irrigation canals, facilitating water distribution, and addressing the immediate repair or construction of facilities affected by natural disasters.
The annual ushering activity is a longstanding tradition of the Agency, signifying a renewed commitment and dedication towards irrigation development, food security, and assistance to Filipino farmers. NIA CALABARZON is poised for a transformative journey, aiming to reshape the landscape of agriculture in the region for a more prosperous and sustainable future.
