Dao SIP to irrigate 15 has. of agri. lands

PROJECT COMPLETED! The Dao Small Irrigation Project (SIP) located at Brgy. Dao, Balayan, Batangas is now ready to irrigate farmlands in the area.

The project was turned-over to Dao Balayan Farmers Irrigators Association for its operation and maintenance last July 6,2021.

The project pegged at PHP 6-million will irrigate a total of 15 hectares pf agricultural lands within the area benefitting 27 farmers. Aside from rice, various crops are planted in their fields such as tomatoes, eggplant and petchay.

Batangas 1st District Representative Cong. Eileen Ermita showed her gratitude to NIA assured their continuous support to the farmers of Balayan.

“Hinihiling natin na madagdagan pa ang proyekto ng NIA sa bayan ng Balayan at 100% ang suporta ko sa mga farmers ng Balayan”, said the Mayor Emmanuel Fronda of Balayan, Batangas

Details of the completed project were presented by Engr. Nino Ordanel of NIA CBIMO. The Irrigators Association were glad to finally use the irrigation project.

“Gagawin namin ang mga itinuro sa amin ng NIA tungkol sa solar at hihikayatin pa ang ibang farmers na may tanim ng tubo na magdivert sa high value crops”, IA President Reynaldo Julongbayan said.

The simple turn-over ceremony were attended by NIA heads and staff, Balayan Batangas LGU and IAs.

The Mabayabas Small Irrigation Project (SIP) located at Brgy. Mabayabas, Taysan, Batangas is now ready for actual use.

The project was turned over to Barangay Mabayabas Taysan Batangas Farmers and IA Inc. and the ceremony was attended by NIA staff, Municipal Mayor Grande P. Gutierrez, Municipal Agriculturist and staff last June 4, 2021.

With a total project cost of Php 10 million, the Mabayabas SIP will irrigate a total of 24 hectares and will benefit 37 farmers.

The project was completed in accordance with NIA Engineering Standards which includes project facilities such as two solar pump facilities with water tanks, pipelines and fittings and other accessories.

“Kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat lalong higit sa taga-NIA sa pagkakaloob ng proyektong patubig dito sa aming lugar at sana ay madagdagan pa sa mga susunod na taon”, the young Mayor Grande Gutierrez said in his inspirational message.

New service vehicles arrived in NIA IV-A

New service vehicles arrived in NIA IV-A! RM Romeo Lopez led the group in accepting two (2) additional service vehicles to be dispatched on the Agency’s field offices.

The pick-up trucks are expected to facilitate faster mobilization of various irrigation projects in Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal provinces.

Said activity is part of the NIA’s effort in modernizing its facilities and services.

Two irrigation projects in Rizal completed!

June 24, 2021 - The NIA Administrator Gen Ricardo Visaya led the turnover ceremony of Calawis Small Irrigation Project in Antipolo, Rizal and Palay-Palay Pump Communal Irrigation System in Jala-Jala Rizal.

The Calawis SIS is set to irrigate a total of 43 hectares of agricultural lands in Antipolo benefitting 20 farmers while the Palay-Palay PCIS will irrigate a total of 142 hectares of rice fields in Jala-Jala Rizal and will benefit 110 farmers under Palay-Palay Maunlad Farmers Associations Inc.

Antipolo City Councilor Paui Tapales expressed his gratefulness to NIA Management as they continue to support their farmers in the municipality. He added that despite the pandemic the Agency was able to build irrigation projects that will impact the lives of the farmers.

Details of the completed projects were also presented by Engr. Leilani Dela Cruz of Laguna-Rizal IMO. The Irrigators Associations were happy to finally use the said irrigation projects.

RM Romeo Lopez, in his speech, reiterated the commitment of the Agency to provide efficient and effective irrigation system in support to agriculture sector.

NIA Administrator Ricardo Visaya shared the Agency's effort for modernization and innovation in irrigation as it can lead to a more practical and effective method in the long run.

"We are currently in contact with the Israeli government for the modernization and innovation of irrigation projects gaya ng Solar at Drip irrigation technology na mas makakatulong sa ating magsasaka", he said.

Administrator Visaya enthusiastically shared that the Agency is currently on track to inaugurate at least 100 irrigation projects nationwide for the 2nd and 3rd Quarter of the year.

Also present during the event were NIA Deputy Administrator Romeo Gan, NIA IV-A Regional Manager Romeo Lopez, and other NIA Officials.

NIA IV-A joins simultaneous Nationwide Tree Planting

NIA IV-A joins simultaneous nationwide Tree Planting activity led by the Regional Manager Romeo Lopez in Brgy. Calumpang, Liliw Laguna which is part of the Sta. Cruz River Irrigation System.

Said activity is part of the 58th NIA Anniversary celebration which include all NIA Regional and Project offices nationwide. The tree planting activity is one of the Agency's effort to protect and manage critical watersheds nationwide.

"Mahalaga na protektahan natin ang ating watershed sapagkat dito nagmumula ang mga tubig na ginagamit natin sa ating mga irigasyon", said RM Romeo Lopez.

In his speech, he added that the yearly tree planting activity is also part of the country's National Greening Program which aims to implement sustainable management of natural resources through resource conservation, protection, and productivity enhancement.

Some of NIA Central Office employees join the CALABARZON team.

"Habang na de-degrade ang ating environment nararanasan natin ang matitinding sakuna" said Forester Abelardo Angadol of EWMS-Project Planning Division, NIA CO.

He shared that various critical watershed which can directly impact irrigation were determine for said activity. He asked the group to continue to monitor the seedlings planted and make efforts to re-vegetate the identified planting sites.

"Magkakaugnay ang lahat, Yung ating watershed will determine kung gaano kaganda at sufficient na tubig ang pwede natin gamitin sa irigasyon at kung gaano ka-efficient ang irrigation natin - ito naman ang mag de-determine kung gaanong productivity sa agrikultura ang pwede natin ma-attain, he said.

The NIA IV-A conducted various tree planting activity, the Laguna-Rizal IMO planted seedlings in Balanac River Irrigation System while the Quezon IMO went to Macalelon SRIP in Macalelon, Quezon and Agos RIS in Infanta, Quezon.
