NIA IV-A intensifies project planning and construction

A training was conducted particularly for Project Designers and Project-In-Charge from November 24 to 26 2021 to refresh and intensify their skills in project planning and construction.

The three days Training on Design and Project Construction was delivered by seasoned engineers of NIA Region IV-A namely: Engr. Wilson M. Lopez, Engr. Erwin M. Lucela, Engr. Romulo M. Angeles, Engr. Marinel P. Tobias, Engr. Wendalyne I. Bonita, Engr. Marilou A. Lontok and Engr. Rhea Marfesa C. Ruiz.

All participants are expected to improve, continue exceling in their fields and contribute to the growth and good performance of the agency in serving our clients. | DD Gabrido

NIA IV-A chief inspects MSRIP

National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Manager Wilson M. Lopez together with NIA – Quezon Irrigation Management Office (QIMO) Division Manager Engr. Nicasio C. Pagdanganan, Jr., Assistant Chief and Sr. Engineer Edwin C. Nazareno, Construction and Operation Engineer Ariel F. Nadera and other NIA – Macalelon Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (MSRIP) Technical and Institutional Development Program personnel conducted ocular inspection at Macalelon Earthfill Dam Macalelon, Quezon last December 3, 2021.

The construction of MSRIP has become more challenging due to bad/unworkable weather condition and unpassable service roads leading to the projects. NIA continuously doing their task and immediate action to meet the target schedule of project completion.

Project-in-charge and Sr. Engineer Winston C. Pamisaran led the visitation at dam area located at Brgy. Vista Hermosa Macalelon, Quezon. He discussed the present situation, issues and concerns at the area. Likewise, Engineering Assistant Michael Angelo M. Oliveros led the inspection at irrigation facilities particularly at main canals. Engr. Lopez gave his insights and suggestions for the betterment of the project.

At the end, a staff meeting was conducted at NIA – MSRIP Field Office. Engr. Lopez motivate his colleagues to built more trust and cooperation with each other especially in facing difficulties.He said, “kung ano man ang nakita nating kamalian noon, itama na lamang natin ito.”

The activity is one of the NIA’s ongoing support of all projects.

NIA IV-A capacitates PR team

Pila, Laguna December 02-- NIA IV-A Press Relations Team (PR) on its second day of Training-Workshop on News, Feature writing and Photojournalism.

The second day is another day of overloading knowledge and tips on how to write success stories and capturing better photos yet a fun-filled day feeling accomplished.

First hour of the training, Mr. Kier Gupayao monitored the participants' writing progress and gives suggestions on improving their stories. One of the stories read is entitled "A Farmer's Tale".

A Farmer's Tale is a success story about a hardworking farmer who used farming as source to give his family a better life and education to his children. His contributions in farming was recognized in Jalajala, Rizal.

Later in the afternoon, Public Information Assistant Mr. Dwight Michael B. Sunico discussed photojournalism. Before proceeding to the main topic, he taught the participants the basics and ethics of photography that will ensure quality of the pictures taken and the message it conveys.

According to him, a good picture is not in the brand or model of a camera but it is on how one will capture the subject. Later on, participants were asked to take pictures and create a title that reflects the photo taken.

30 minutes later, the titled photos namely Pusa, the Ducks, The carpenter, Laborer, Salok ng buhay, Simpleng pasko, Punas, The Mechanic, Light and life and The orchid were shown.

After the critiquing, PUNAS won the best picture by vote.

The participants had fun doing the activities as it brings out their innermost writing and photography abilities.

Tomorrow is the last day of training and the NIA management expects that the knowledge will remain and will be applied.

NIA IV-A writing, photojournalism workshop to boost staff skills

Pila, Laguna, December 01-The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region IV-A, conducted a workshop entitled "News, Feature Writing and Basic Photojournalism" to strengthen the communication and public relations skills of personnel.

Philippine Information Agency IV-A Information Officer Kier Gideon Paolo M. Gapayao, discussed the basic steps on how to write news properly and also explained basic writing as the lead, the body and the tail of stories.

After the explanation of the basic news writing, Gapayao challenged participants to create short news articles based on the discussion.

He also said that they need to submit the news articles for critiquing later in the afternoon.

All participants were tasked to write success stories as the 2nd day challenge.

NIA IV-A joins 2nd Surveillance Audit

Region IV-A attended the 2nd Surveillance Audit at the Central Office for NIA's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. Attended by the Planning Team Members to answer all the questions given by the Internal Quality Auditor. Recommendations has been given to improve the preparation, implementation and documentation of all processes in NIA Region 4A. So, what is Quality Management System? A quality management system (QMS) is a collection of business processes focused on consistently meeting customer requirements and enhancing their satisfaction. It is aligned with an organization's purpose and strategic direction (ISO 9001:2015). It is expressed as the organizational goals and aspirations, policies, processes, documented information and resources needed to implement and maintain it.
