Ceremonial Turnover ng Camflora Small Irrigation Project

10-Milyong Halaga ng Proyektong Patubig, Pakikinabangan na ng Magsasaka sa Quezon. 

March 20 - Magkakaroon na ng maayos na patubig ang nasa may dalawampung (20) ektarya ng sakahan sa San Andres, Quezon matapos pangunahan ni NIA Quezon IMO Manager Engr. Romulo Angeles, San Andres Municipal Mayor Ralph Edward Lim, at Department of Agrarian Reform MARO Ms. Irene Mercado ang Ceremonial Turnover ng Camflora Small Irrigation Project (SIP) sa Sitio Umagos, Brgy. Camflora sa nasabing bayan. 

Inaasahan na susuporta ang nasabing sistemang patubig sa may labinlimang (15) magsasaka at Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) na kasapi ng Samahan ng mga Magsasaka sa Sitio Umagos (SMSU) Inc. 

“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat sa pamunuan ng NIA at DAR dahil sa haba ng panahon ngayon lang po kami nakadama ng ganitong klase ng tulong mula sa ating gobyerno”, saad ni SMSU IA President G. Leberato Bancat Sr. 

Ang proyekto ay naisakatuparan dahil sa mas pinaigting na  pagtutulungan ng NIA at DAR sa pamamagitan ng Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program - Irrigation Component (CARP-IC). Bahagi ng proyekto ang construction ng diversion works, canal structures, canal lining, at pipe lining. 

“Itong proyekto na ito ay hindi lamang makakatulong sa kabuhayan ng aming magsasaka kundi magbibigay din ng inspirasyon sa aming bayan upang makamit ang progreso na aming minimithi”, mensahe ni Municipal Mayor Ralph Edward Lim. 

Ipinagmalaki naman ni DM Angeles, bilang kinatawan ni Regional Manager Roberto Dela Cruz, na bunga ang proyekto ng maayos na koordinasyon ng iba’t-ibang sangay ng pamahalaan na naglalayon na masuportahan ang sekto ng agrikultura. 

“Ito ang nais ni NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen na suportahan ang food security initiative ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa pamamagitan ng pagsuporta at pagpapayabong ng ating mga agricultural lands. Kaya naman hinihiling namin sa ating mga magsasaka na alagaan natin ang patubig na ito at ‘wag tayong mag agawan sa patubig”, dagdag ni DM Angeles. 

Ayon kay CARP-IC Engr. Jomar Tinaza, nagsimula ang proyekto noong Abril 2023 at natapos nitong Disyembre sa parehong taon.

Meeting for Dumacaa River Irrigation System

LOOK: The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Quezon Irrigation Management Office (IMO) spearheaded the System Management Committee (SMC) Meeting for the Dumacaa River Irrigation System at Ouan’s The Farm Resort in Lucena City. 

The meeting was attended by Irrigators' Associations (IAs) of Dumacaa RIS and representatives from various government agencies. The primary objective of the meeting was to deliberate several critical items including; the assessment of the Operation & Maintenance Performance for the Calendar Year (CY) 2023, formulation of the Operation & Maintenance Plan for CY 2024, the establishment of the Cropping Calendar and Pattern of Planting for both the Wet Season 2024 and the Dry Season 2025, and exploration of Contract Farming arrangements.

The meeting also catered identification and discussion of issues potentially impacting the operation and maintenance of the system, such as concerns related to Informal Settlers (according to PD552 and its inventory), Waste and Sewage Disposal practices, and the implementation of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) techniques. 

There was also a thorough review of relevant City and Municipal Ordinances and a discussion of Agricultural Support Services and Programs provided by various local and national agencies. | A. Refazo

Consultation Workshop for RIMP 2023-2030

ICYMI: NIA Region IV-A hosted the In-depth Consultation Workshop for the Formulation of Regional Irrigation Master Plan (RIMP) 2023-2030 for targeted regions. NIA MIMAROPA was the first NIA regional office to undergo consultation workshop for their RIMP. 

The Corporate Planning Services (CorPlan) OIC Engr. Reynaldo Nilo shared the overview of the workshop which aims to finalize the contents and plans included in the master plan. Issues and concerns were also presented and discussed followed by a small group discussions together with Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) and Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE). 

Region IV-B is one of the (5) regions including Region III, UPRIIS, Region IV-A, Region VIII, and Region IX to undergo in-depth Consultation Workshop that will run from March 19 to March 22, 2024.

Irrigation Project Award to Anibawan Aluyon Irrigation Association

HAPPENING NOW: The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Quezon IMO Division Manager Engr. Romulo M. Angeles and Quezon 1st District Representative @Cong. Mark Enverga presented the certification of the irrigation project award to the Anibawan Aluyon Irrigators Association (IA) for the construction of a solar irrigation pump, river protection works, and canal system pegged at Php11.7 million.

Contructors’ Performance Evaluation System

LOOK: NIA Cavite-Batangas IMO conducts Constructors' Performance Evaluation System (CPES) activity with an entry conference led by Division Manager Engr. Edwin Nazareno. It was attended by CBIMO Projects-in-Charge (PICs) and private partners (contractors) on March 18.

The CPES Team, led by Engr. Arnel L. Miguel from UPRIIS - Division VI, discussed the objectives of the activity which is to establish a uniform set of criteria for rating the performance of constructors. The 5-day activity is set to evaluate completed and ongoing irrigation projects based on a prescribed and implementing set of guidelines.
