The group received a friendly welcome from IRRI Deputy Director General for Strategy, Engagement, and Impact Joanna Kane-Potaka who underscores the importance of irrigation in the cultivation of rice.

Said activity aims to explore cutting-edge technologies that can promote more efficient and effective irrigation systems. It is also intended to assist the Agency in carrying out future irrigation projects backed up by agricultural research and modern tools, aiming to boost agricultural productivity.

Through the leadership of NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, NIA is continuously seeking for new opportunities and effective strategies including modernization of irrigation systems, strengthening capacity building for our Irrigators Association, convergence initiatives, and adoption of new technologies and practices that will positively impact the livelihood of the Filipino farmers.

The group, composed of NIA Officials and technical personnel from Central Office, Region IV-A, Region 3, and UPRIIS, also had an opportunity to visit the International Rice Gene Bank and Grain Quality and Nutrition Center inside the IRRI compound.
