NIA IV-A chief Engr. Wilson Lopez, along with the Agency's technical officials and personnel, meets the key personnel of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine National Railways (PNR), and Chinese Railway Design Corporation for the coordination meeting regarding the South Long Haul Project.
The group primarily discussed the project alignment and implementation of the San Pablo Depot located in Santa Maria, San Pablo, Laguna. On the part of PNR, the Agency presented the project information including maps and plans to determine locations where the project will pass through.
NIA, on the other hand, presented various irrigation facilities and irrigated areas that will be possibly affected by the project. Said project will traversed to approximately 17 irrigation systems with almost 60 hectares of agricultural lands. located in Laguna and Quezon provinces.
The two parties agreed to facilitate continuous coordination to minimize, if not avoid, the effects of the project on irrigation and agriculture. According to DOTr, the South Long Haul Project Package 1 is a 380-kilometer train line connecting Banlic, Calamba to Daraga, Albay.
