NIA IV-A MALE ADVOCATES VOW TO OPPOSED GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

March 8, 2022 – NIA Region IV-A Regional Manager Wilson M. Lopez leads the launching and oath-taking of the newly assemble Men Oppose to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE) Focal Persons and Focal System Representatives in Regional Office and IMO offices in the new Training Center, Pila, Laguna.

Administrative Services Officer V Ms. Marietta M. Dela Cruz explained the purpose of said organization. She said that MOVE is an organization of men who committed themselves to be actively involved in the elimination of Violence Against Women (VAW).

“Kailangan natin ang suporta ng ating mga kasamahan na lalaki para fully ay ma-recognize natin ang kahalagahan ng pagpapanatili ng VAW-free organization which will promote safe and effective working environment”, she added.

RM Wilson Lopez highlighted the importance of gender equality in workplace. He said that women are well represented in the organization as more and more technical staff and officials are holding a critical position in the Agency.

“Kita natin na marami sa mga engineers din natin not only dito sa Regional Office ang babae, meron din tayong mga officials like Regional Managers, Division Managers, at Section Chiefs na mga babae sa iba’t ibang opisina ng NIA nationwide”, he said.

National Irrigation Administration Region IV-A hosted a "Seminar-Workshop on Feasibility Study Report Preparation for Irrigation Projects"

The National Irrigation Administration Region IV-A hosted a "Seminar-Workshop on Feasibility Study Report Preparation for Irrigation Projects" held on March 02-04, 2022 at 2205 Suites City Heights Subd. Brgy Ilayang Iyam, Lucena City, Quezon Province.

NIA Quezon IMO Planning personnel held a three-day seminar-workshop in Lucena City on the preparation of feasibility study reports for irrigation projects.

NIA-Acting QIMO Division Manager Engr. Edwin C. Nazareno, in his message, highlighted the Quezon is an agriculture rich province. "Among provinces in CALABARZON, ang Quezon ang may pinakamalawak na lupang pang agrikultura na maaari natin masuportahan ng irigasyon," he said.

He added that this seminar-workshop will capacitate the planning team in the preparation of the Feasibility Study reports in identifying and investigating new areas for proposed irrigation development.

During the first session, Engr. Norma U. Valin, Supervising Engineer, discussed the project preparation stages and their significance. She advised everyone to keep in mind the three Ts (Tao, Tubig, and Tanim) when identifying new irrigation projects.

Engr. Wilson M. Lopez, Regional Manager, emphasized the importance of capacitating the Planning Team to strengthen proposals of irrigation projects. RM Lopez said that the team will plays a vital role in the devolution process - to which Communal Irrigation Systems will be devolve to the responsibilities of the Local Government Units (LGUs).

As a planning engineer himself, he shared the three (3) important factors to consider when choosing a project: available water supply, service area, and farmer beneficiaries. | A.Colinares, QIMO

NIA GAD Focal persons attended Gender-Based Effectiveness Skills Training (G-BEST)

PILA, LAGUNA, February 9, 2022 | NIA GAD Focal persons attended Gender-Based Effectiveness Skills Training (G-BEST) at the new Regional Training Center on February 9-11, 2022. This is to raise awareness in addressing gender equality and women empowerment issues. During the first day of the training, participants were able to grasped gender issues and realities in the Philippine setting and value gender differences of women and men. They were also able to internalize these issues both at the professional level and personal lives.

This activity is also congruent to RA 9710 or The Magna Carta of Women Act, Section 2 on the Declaration of Policy states that; “Recognizing that the economic, political, and socio-cultural realities affect women’s current condition, the State affirms the role of women in nation building and ensures that substantive equality of women and men. It shall promote empowerment of women and pursue equal opportunities for women and men and ensure equal access to resources and to the development results and outcome. Further, the state realizes the equality of men and women entails the abolition of the unequal structures and practices that perpetuate discrimination and equality. To realize this, the State shall endeavor to develop plans, economic, political, social and cultural life of women and men.”

Year-End Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Performance Evaluation and Orientation on Devolution Transition Plan of Communal Irrigation System (CIS) to Local Government Units (LGUs)

National Irrigation Administration - Quezon Irrigation Management Office (NIA-QIMO) together with Engr. Wilson M. Lopez Regional Manager, Engr. Nicasio Pagdanganan Jr. Division Manager, Engr. Edwin C. Nazareno Sr. Engineer and Sofia Carmelita Resurreccion Supervising IDO conducted Year-End Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Performance Evaluation and Orientation on Devolution Transition Plan of Communal Irrigation System (CIS) to Local Government Units (LGUs) attended by Quezon Province Federation of Communal Irrigation System Irrigators Association in Ouans Farm and Resort, Lucena City on December 9, 2021.

The event was conducted to orient the CIS Irrigators Association on the Devolution Transition Plan of CIS to LGU stated in the Mandanas Ruling.

Ms. Resurreccion discussed the phases of the transition plan which is the 1. Pre-transition phase, 2. The transition phase, 3. Full-turnover phase and 4. Institutional Development Phase. She encouraged the Irrigation Associations (IAs) to avail the condonation program before the full turnover of their CIS to their LGU.

Inauguration of the Newly Constructed NIA-CBIMO Administration Building

Naic, Cavite, Dec. 16 – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) conducted the inauguration of the newly constructed building of NIA Cavite-Batangas Irrigation Management Office (CBIMO) located in Brgy. Ibayo Silangan, Naic, Cavite on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021 attended by the NIA top management from Central and Regional Office and CBIMO personnel.

The event started with the ceremonial ribbon cutting with NIA top management and the blessing of the new building led by Rev. Fr. Benedict Insigne.

The construction of the two-storey building started last December 14, 2020 and completed last October 5, 2021 with the help of the trusted contractor DQT Builders Corporation. With about 900 sq.m. building area, this will promote a more conducive office space for its employees and other NIA stakeholders.

NIA CALABARZON Regional Manager Engr. Wilson M. Lopez started his message with gratitude as this new building is a great blessing to the NIA CBIMO employees and will be the medium of a more efficient work.

“Tayo ay mga steward ng ating Panginoon sa mga bagay na ito na dapat nating pagyamanin," Lopez.

The activity was presided by NIA Senior Deputy Administrator (SDA), Engr. Romeo M. Lopez, the building was inaugurated and now ready to use by the employees of NIA-CBIMO.

In his message, NIA Senior Deputy Administrator shared his brief history in NIA. He highlighted the importance of a good and quality workplace to keep the employees on task and work efficiently.

“Dapat mag-improve din tayo sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga stakeholders”, he emphasized.
