NIA Region IV-A joins the Department of Agriculture CALABARZON Media Corps Coordination and Harmonization Meeting held at LARES Training Hall, Lipa City, Batangas.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Jhon Vince Santoalla represented the Agency together with other Information Officers of various agencies and bureaus related to agriculture sector.

Assistant Secretary for Operations & Regional Executive Director of DA 4A Engr. Arnel de Mesa delivered his message virtually and shared his gratitude among the participants of said meeting.

“Hindi maikakaila na ang impormasyon at koordinasyon ang isa sa mahalagang sangkap sa pagpapatupad ng maayos na proyektong pang agrikultura”, he emphasized.

Mr. Radel Llagas, DA 4A Information Section Chief, presented the talking points and discussed the DA’s Communication Activities.

“We are doing this because we want to have an established network of info. officers in agri. sector.”, he added.

All agencies are set to discussed their respective agency mandates, composition of communication team, communication activities, and best practices.

The harmonization meeting aims to strengthen complementation and maximization of resources of agencies and bureaus under the umbrella of Department of Agriculture.

The CALABARZON Media Corps is a network of information officers on Region 4A tasked to promote various programs and services on agriculture.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program – Irrigation Component (CARP-IC) together with the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) Secretariat, DAR Batangas, NIA Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and Cavite-Batangas IMO held the Validation of Nominees for the Most Outstanding CY 2021 CARP-IC Irrigators Associations (IAs) on May 6, 2022 at Brgy. Prenza, Lian, Batangas. It was attended by Engr. Delsy J. Revellame Project Manager CARP-IC and concurrent Operations Department Manager, Dir. Isabelita Q. Estrada, PARC Secretariat, Engr. Jaime C. De Jesus, Division Manager Cavite-Batangas IMO.

The Prenza Communal Irrigation System (CIS) operated and maintained by the Prenza-Ladron-Balanoy-Sampalocan-Calumpit Irrigators Association Inc., (PRELABASACA IA Inc.,). The IA was evaluated in four categories namely Operation & Maintenance Performance, Financial Performance, Organization & Organizational Discipline and Assistance Program/ Agri Support.

The Prenza CIS is under the HUPUCUMPRE ARC with 125 hectares of irrigated lands and 153 Farmer Beneficiaries where 88 are Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.

Their IA President Mr. Eustaquio Vecinal expressed their gratitude on being part of the nominee for outstanding IA and hopes that government circulation and support will continue in their area.

NIA IV-A led by Regional Manager Wilson Lopez kickstarts the 2022 In-house NIA Sports Festival 2022 at the NIA IV-A Compound, Pila Laguna.

Said activity is an annual event of the Agency to build camaraderie and further improve the working relationship of its employees.

"It's been two (2) years since last na nakita natin yung ganitong energy at excitement sa bawat isa sa atin. Kaya naman let's enjoy this and huwag natin kalimutan yung spirit of sportmanship", said RM Lopez.

The program started with festive spirit and colorful uniforms thru the Parade of Colors wherein team managers, team captains, members, and their respective muses chanted their way from the guard house until they reach the covered court.

The teams were categorized in four (4) different colors namely; Red (Laguna-Rizal IMO), Yellow (Laguna-Rizal IMO), Pink (Regional Office), and Blue (Regional Office).

The presentation of muses showcasing their various talents was the highlight of the opening ceremony. The Blue team represented by Engr. Jonna Valin and Ms. Rovilyn Aben Latiza emerged as the Ms. NIA 2022 In-house Sports Festival.

The officials who were present during the activity were NIAEASP President Engr. Carlos Delacruz, EOD Manager Engr. Erwin Lucela, AFD Manager Ms. Reynaria Tapia, Cavite-Batangas IMO Manager Engr. Jaime De Jesus, Laguna-Rizal IMO Manager Engr. Fidel Martinez.

The officials gave their messages of support stating that spirit of sportsmanship must always be practiced to avoid serious injuries and unwanted scenarios.

IDO JOB ENRICHMENT TRAINING ON IA PERFORMANCE

The Institutional Development Unit of Regional Office conducted a two (2) day training on IDO Job Enrichment regarding IA Performance. This includes increasing the capacity of involvement in the management of operation and maintenance of irrigation and agribusiness activities.

The training also covered the IA Functionality Survey/IMT Performance in NIS and CIS specifically the O&M performance, financial performance and Organization and Organizational Discipline.

IDU-RO invited Mrs. Heartie E. Navarro, Chief of Irrigators Assistance Section of IDD-CO. She thoroughly discussed the IA Functionality Survey. She said that this will serve as a challenge to all IDOs of Region IV-A to groom more Outstanding IAs.

Mrs. Marife C. Peralta, Financial Planning Specialist B of Budget Division, AFD-CO, discussed the Financial aspect of IA Functionality Survey. She also presented Financial Plan of an IA for actual auditing.

Ms. Maricel M. Del Rosario, CDO III, shared the outputs from the nationwide SMES conducted last April 4, 2022 as well as the Phases and Processes of CIS Devolution, Organization and Organizational Discipline.

There will also be field immersion for each IMO. This will serve as hands-on application of the IA evaluation tool learned during the 2-day lecture. Each IMO will be assigned two (2) IAs to evaluate. One from NIS and one from CIS. | LBJavan, RO
