Clean-up Drive/Desilting Activity of Lateral A Canal of Sta. Maria RIS

Through the joint effort of the Sangguniang Barangay of Cabuoan, SANTAMASI IA, and National Irrigation Administration, the two (2) day Clean-up Drive/Desilting Activity of Lateral A Canal of Sta. Maria RIS was held successfully aiming the objective of improving and achieving better irrigation services through unity on Turnout Service Areas (TSAs) 6 and 6A benefitting almost 67 hectares of riceland and 40 IA farmer-beneficiaries.

According to Mr. Ciriaco Reyes, IA Vice President and Water Tender, Lateral A canal was used for only three years equivalent to six (6) cropping seasons and later on became silted and non-operational. Therefore, through this activity it will help improve the smooth flow of irrigation water and its quality and ultimately help the farmers in increase their production yield and income as well. l R.Vergara, SWRFT

LOOK! NIA IV-A led by Regional Manager Wilson Lopez signed a Memorandum of Cooperation together with other national and local government agencies in CALABARAZON for the creation of Malaking Ilog and Iyam-Dumacaa River Basin Management Council (MIIDRBMC).

The said council is set to act as the implementing body to oversee and orchestrate the overall implementation of Integrated River Basin Management and Integrated Water Resources Management for Cluster 2 River Basin to which Malaking Ilog and Iyam-Dumacaa River are covered. The council will spearhead the protection, rehabilitation, development, management, and utilization of the environment and natural resources inside the said cluster.

As a prime government agency in providing efficient irrigation systems, NIA is set to participate in the planning and implementation of the Council’s plans and programs. The Agency is also tasked to co-lead in the advocacy of Cluster 2 River Basin related laws, rules, and regulations through effective Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.

NIA will also allocate funds for necessary and urgent repair, restoration, or improvement of National Irrigation Systems (NIS) within the Cluster 2 River Basin.

Said action is in consonance with national strategy for sustainable development stipulated in Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Memorandum Circular No. 5, Series of 2008.

Internal Quality Audit (IQA) was conducted to NIA Cavite-Batangas IMO for the continuing improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)

For the continuing improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), Internal Quality Audit (IQA) was conducted to NIA Cavite-Batangas IMO on May 17-18, 2022 at the NIA-CBIMO compound. The NIA Region IV-A IQA Team headed by Ms. Jemmela Anne V. Masicat, IQA Interim Team Chairperson, observed by the NIA-LRIMO IQA Team, examined all of the IMO's departments, including the top management, information and external relations management, planning, administrative, finance, operations, and others.

Auditees prepared the necessary data, information and reports that were asked by the assigned auditors. While the observers evaluated the performance of the Regional Office in the conduct of internal audit.

The audit was performed for the betterment and improvement of the agency in order to make their jobs more accessible, as well as to determine whether the organization was in compliance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. l KBO/KLE

LOOK l The NIA Cavite-Batangas IMO Division Manager Engr. Jaime C. De Jesus led the simple turn-over ceremony of Maangyo Pump Irrigation Project (PIP) in Sitio Maangyo Brgy. Urdaneta, Magallanes Cavite. The 9th Solar Powered Irrigation Project is set to irrigate 22 hectares of agricultural lands in the area.

The said project was turned-over to Maangyo Irrigators Association Inc. headed by the IA President Ms. Prescilla R. Ramos, for its operation and maintenance on May 16, 2022.

“Naikumpara ko nga ang tanim dati ng aking mga magulang na tubo (sugarcane) na sa sobrang hirap sa pag-papatanim hanggang sa pagpapatabas ng tubo o pag-ani ay nalugi pa ako. Kaya ang sabi ko hinding-hindi na ako mag tatanim muli nito. Napakalaking tulong po ng patubig na ito dahil sa makakapagtanim na kami ng iba’t-ibang uri ng halaman at gulay”, IA President shared.

In his speech, Engr. De Jesus discussed the brief information about the Mandanas ruling. “Pag-ibayuhin po natin at ingatan itong proyektong ito”, he said.

Engr. Alvin Ian Digno, the Project Engineer, discussed the details of the project.

On behalf of Mayor Jasmin Angeli Maligaya-Bautista, Atty. Kristine M. Abeleda said “Unti-unti na pong natutupad ang pangarap ng Magallenos na maging vegetable basket ng Cavite ang Magallanes dahil sa tulong ng NIA, tulad ng Solar Irrigation Projects na katulad nito na kahit na tag-init ay nakakapagtanim kami ng mga sari-saring gulay”.
